The sea mew

You are as empty as the sea

as hollow as the sky to me,

as lifeless as the grey-green land

on which the trees in coffins stand.

You are a ferret and a mole

which burrows deep into my soul,

but all you find is a little hole

where I another thing have planned.

You are a child that works in sand

where dreams dissolve and children sigh,

where a young girl sobs at the muted cry

of a sea mew lost in a hollow sky.
